UMass Boston Represented at Indoor Championship for First Time in Two Decades
Sophomore sprinter Hulerie McGuffie of Lynn will be representing the University of Massachusetts Boston at the 2014 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska this weekend. This is the first time UMass Boston has been represented at the indoor national championships in more than 20 years.
“To go to nationals, representing UMass Boston, is a great honor, and I’m hopefully coming back with a national championship to help develop the track and field program,” McGuffie said.
McGuffie will be competing in the 200 and 400-meter dashes.
The Beacons (2-1) return to action on Saturday when they host Johnson State College at 3 p.m. at Boston College High School. Last Wednesday, the Beacons lost a heartbreaker to Gordon College, 10-9. Senior Tommy Petitti of Quincy had three goals in the loss. This Tuesday, they knocked off Thomas College 16-4, with 11 different players recording at least 1 point.
