This Week in Beacons Sports: Track and Field Sets 5 Personal Bests

Beacons Compete at Ramapo College Indoor Select for First Time

Four Beacons set personal bests at the Ramapo College Indoor Select in New York City on Saturday. Freshman Christopher Sian-Aguirre posted two career bests for a school total of five.

In the 200-meter dash, Renee O’Brien recorded a time of 26.21 seconds, Kelly Desane finished in 23.67 seconds, and Sian-Aguirre recorded a time of 24.50 seconds. Two personal bests were recorded in the long jump: Xavier Romero finished in 11th place with 20-05.75 feet and Sian-Aguirre finished in 22nd place with a jump of 18-02.25 feet.

Sophomore sprinter Hulerie McGuffie led the way for the women's team with her fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash.

Women’s Hockey
The Beacons (7-7-3) earned their biggest win in three years with an 8-0 victory over New England College on Saturday afternoon. Kristen Embrey and Emily Russell each picked up three points, while Tori Pizzuto recorded a game-high two goals. The Beacons host first-place Norwich University on Friday.

Women's Basketball
Women’s basketball (10-5) beat Connecticut State University 66-40 on Friday for their first win against the Blue Devils since 2007 The Beacons, 2-1 on the week, also picked up a 54-39 win over Bridgewater State University on Thursday. Their game today against UMass Dartmouth has been moved up to 4 p.m. due to weather.

Men's Basketball
The Beacons (5-9) look to bounce back following losses this week to Plymouth State University, Bridgewater State University, and Western Connecticut State University. The Beacons host UMass Dartmouth at 6 p.m. today as part of the basketball doubleheader.

Men’s Hockey
Following a 4-1 win over St. Anselm College on Friday, the Beacons (13-2-2) had their 14-game unbeaten streak stopped on Saturday with a 3-2 loss to New England College. They host Babson College Friday at 7 p.m.
