For the 15th year, the UMass Boston Division of Athletics and Recreation, Special Projects, and Programs teamed up with the Hyde Park Department of Children and Families to provide holiday gifts for recently homeless and foster children in the Boston community.
Members of the community donated holiday presents, including clothing, toys, and books to over 80 children who may not otherwise be able to experience the gift giving associated with the winter holidays. In addition, many UMass Boston students, faculty, and staff, volunteered their time and provided financial contributions.
The annual giving celebration on Wednesday, December 10 was hosted by student-athletes from the UMass Boston intercollegiate program. After handing out presents, the athletes held a reception with foster families, staff from Hyde Park DCF, and a very special guest, Santa Claus and his #1 Elf!
