UMass Boston Makes Top 25 for Second Time
UMass Boston’s volleyball team is ranked No. 22 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll, only the second time in program history the Beacons have been ranked to open the year.
UMass Boston was the only team from the New England region to make the top 25 of the national poll. The Beacons will face six ranked teams, including Williams College and Roger Williams University, during the regular season. Last year, UMass Boston defeated both squads in the NCAA regionals to earn a spot in the national tournament.
AVCA All-Region honoree Elizabeth Glavan and Eastern College Athletic Conference New England All-Star Julia Murphy will lead the Beacons when they begin their season August 30 against Susquehanna University.
UMass Boston was previously ranked No. 16 in the 2012 preseason poll.
