UMass Boston associate lecturer Jessica Cooper performed during a recent presentation of works by Henry Purcell and other Baroque-era composers at All Saints Parish in Brookline. The concert, dubbed “A Cecilian Celebration,” was presented by the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, which Cooper co-founded and leads.

Cooper says that teaching at UMass Boston allows her to be involved in the musical journey that her students take and guide them as they pursue a lifelong dream of learning to sing or play an instrument. The journey, she says, has been greatly enhanced by the opening of University Hall, which provides UMass Boston students with “an arts recital hall that is as good as any professional venue in Boston — and in many cases, better.”

“Our students have a wonderful opportunity to hear themselves performing in a setting that is top quality,” she said.
