Starting Thursday, April 25 at 6 a.m., University Drive North between the General Academic Building No. 1 construction site and the Massachusetts State Archives will be closed. Campus traffic will be detoured around the site until Saturday, April 27 at 5 p.m.

This closure will enable construction crews to begin drainage work for GAB No. 1.

During this period, campus police will direct traffic to continue straight on University Drive East. Drivers will then turn left between the JFK Library parking area and Mass Archives to return to University Drive North. Signs will mark the detour route.

The Campus Center parking garage and loading dock will remain open.

Those who drive to campus during this period should allow additional time. As always, the university community is encouraged to take public transportation or go directly to the UMass Boston Bayside lot to park. The free Route 3 shuttle buses run directly from Bayside to the Campus Center.

You can track all shuttle buses’ real-time locations on the web via GPS. A Transloc smart phone app is also available.

This drainage work is scheduled to continue on five consecutive Saturdays from May 4 through June 1. The weekday work on Thursday and Friday is required because of lost construction days recently when the campus was closed.
