Welcome Back: Construction Progress and Travel Tips

Construction Progress

Welcome back! The start of the spring 2017 semester brings some construction and roadway challenges, but we continue to make progress on our campus transformation.

Work continues on two campus firsts—our 1,077-bed residence hall and a free-standing 1,400-space parking garage—and on our utility and roadway project. You can read more about all of these projects in the winter issue of Building Connections.

Travel Tips

These projects bring an increase in construction equipment and traffic on the campus as pile driving and site excavation take place. Please allow yourself extra time for travel to, from, and through campus, especially at the beginning of the semester. And remember to use public transportation whenever possible.

The main campus parking lots fill to capacity prior to 8 a.m. With limited parking and additional construction traffic on campus, drivers should go directly to the Bayside lot or satellite lots at 75 Morrissey Boulevard, near the Boston Globe building, or at 265 Mt. Vernon Street near St. Christopher’s Church.

The free UMass Boston shuttle service will bring you to campus from these locations. Use the UMass Boston app to track shuttle buses in real time from your mobile device. Download the app from either the App Store or the Google Play store.
