Office of Communications
The Office of Communications, part of the Division of Government Relations and Public Affairs, highlights the work of the University of Massachusetts Boston through local, national, and international media, handles media requests, and manages communications from all divisions and offices on campus, including the Chancellor’s Office and the Provost’s Office.
The Office of Communications is also responsible for determining and directing the policies and procedures for our website, www.umb.edu.
The office communicates news about the activities and achievements of faculty, staff, and students through:
- news releases
- media advisories
- The Point online newsletter
- social media
- our website
The director of communications works with other staff members on marketing initiatives, public event planning and execution, and community and government relations activities.
The director of communications also:
- responds to all media inquiries
- oversees web-based and electronic communications for the university
- serves as the university’s public information officer
The office’s staff photographer develops and maintains a digital archive for the campus.
