Hanging in the Balance:  Health Reform in the U.S.
Despite the Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, health reform in the United States continues to hang in the balance. Politically polarizing and barely understood by most people, the law’s fate depends on this fall’s election results. Implementation to date has been uneven and even the law’s supporters are getting frustrated. Can this reform effort succeed? Rosemarie Day will examine health reform’s prospects for success in the U.S., drawing from her experience as a national consultant in health reform and as one of the leaders in implementing health reform in Massachusetts. Ms. Day will share her perspectives on health reform and offer insights from work being done in the U.S. and abroad, including whether there are meaningful alternatives to the Affordable Care Act. She will conclude by discussing options for moving forward.
