A Workshop in West African music and Dance

The Department of Performing Arts will launch its brand new series, Arts Alive! with a workshop in West African music and dance. The workshop, led by campus ethnomusicologist Steven Cornelius, is free and open to the campus community. It will take place on Wednesday, April 10, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the UMass Boston cafeteria.

Come perform Gahu, a social dance of the Ewe-speaking people of Ghana and Togo. We will learn songs, drum rhythms, and choreography. Comfortable clothing is suggested.
