The Asian Studies Department has invited pan-Asian all-women Taiko group “The Genki Spark” for a performance and education program at UMass Boston as part of our end of year event. These talented performers have shared their story at multiple area campuses, the Brookline Cherry Blossom Festival, and most recently took the stage at the Boston Women’s March. They will be performing taiko pieces and sharing how this traditionally male and Japanese art form has helped them process their own complex identities as Asian women.

There will be a reception after the program to celebrate our Asian Studies graduates featuring East and South Asian selections.
