International Workshop On Preventing Electoral Violence
Soaring electoral violence in transition and fragile environments requires understanding the broader landscape of the conflict and how that conflict can be managed. With important elections in Nigeria on the horizon in 2014, this workshop will examine specific examples from cases across Africa in order to analyze how electoral violence can be prevented and mitigated through effective strategic planning and policymaking.
The workshop, by combining theory and practice, will examine methods, tools, and skills, which will enable participants to identify patterns that culminate into conflict during and after an electoral process. The workshop will design effective strategic ways of how to prevent election related and communal conflict from escalating into violence as it usually does in many parts of the of Africa during elections.
The workshop will take place from November 5-7 (10:00am - 5:00pm).
