Jeff Biggers, author of “State out of the Union”
Event Date: September 25, 2012 - 3 p.m.
Event Type: Student Event | Location: Campus Center, 3rd Floor, Room 3550A
Acclaimed journalist and commentator Jeff Biggers discusses his book State out of the Union, an in-depth study of the so-called "immigration crisis" in Arizona. Biggers will explore how attacks on immigrants and ethnic studies, and the responses from Latino activists and their allies, have come to represent the "final showdown over the American Dream." How possible is it that these local battles will lead to what Biggers calls the potential "Arizonification" of the rest of the United States?
Question and answer period will follow Jeff Biggers reading from this book, State out of the Union.
