Mini-Conference on Bullying
The Department of Counseling and School Psychology will host a mini-conference titled "Bullying: Counseling and School Solutions" on Friday, January 25, from 9:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Ryan Lounge, located on the third floor of McCormack Hall. Students, faculty, alumni, supervisors, and guests are welcome.
The department's guest lectures will feature:
Andy Horne, PhD, Southern Illinois University. Andy Horne is the dean and distinguished research professor of the College of Education at the University of Georgia. He created the Bully Busting Program and is a leading scholar on bully victim intervention. He coauthored Bullying Prevention: Creating a Positive School Climate And Developing Social Competence and Counseling Troubled Boys: A Guidebook for Professionals.
Lyn Mikel Brown, EdD, Harvard University. Lyn Brown is a professor of education at Colby College. She is the author of several books including Girlfighting: Betrayal and Rejection among Girls and Raising Their Voices: The Politics of Girls’ Anger. She also coauthored the book Packaging Girlhood: Rescuing Our Daughters from Marketers’ Schemes and is the cofounder of the nonprofit Hardy Girls Healthy Women.
