Public Policy Research Seminar Fall 2016 Mark Warren

Students in blue shirts march holding signs
Event Date: September 20, 2016 - 3:45 p.m.
Location: McCormack 03-0201C

Mark Warren will discuss his research on how local youth and community organizing groups are organizing to stop the school to prison pipeline and connecting across localities to form a larger educational justice movement. He will focus on his research in Chicago where students of color organized to pass Senate Bill 100, the nation’s strongest legislation to counter harsh and racially inequitable school discipline policies that push low-income youth of color and those with special needs out of school. Mark will be joined by three doctoral students who have worked with him on his research and by a Boston youth organizer who will discuss the campaigns of Boston students to fight for educational justice.
