Promoting Peace: A Q&A Session with Forum for Cities in Transition Staff Members

Event Date: February 28, 2013 - 3 p.m.
Location: Healey Library, 11th floor

In 2009, Professor Padraig O'Malley, McCormack Graduate School's John Joseph Moakley Distinguished Professor for Peace and Reconciliation convened a conference at the University of Massachusetts Boston that launched the Forum for Cities in Transition.

Since then, the FCT has gathered annually - each year in a different city:

  • Mitrovica, Kosovo 2010
  • Derry-Londonderry, N. Ireland 2011
  • Kirkuk, Iraq 2012

where delegates from Baghdad, Belfast, Derry-Londonderry, Kaduna, Kirkuk, Mitrovica, Mostar, Nicosia, Ramallah, and Tripoli gathered to share information, discuss models of best practice, examine ways of improving community relations, and pledged over 30 outcomes to be implemented in their home cities or as joint projects with their sister cities

They came together to help each other overcome what only another person with similar experience can do, strength, and hope.

Join us as Forum for Cities in Transition staff members discuss the forum's creation, history, successes and challenges, and highlights of the recent FCT event in Kirkuk, Iraq.
