Refugee Welcome Fair

Event Date: November 05, 2016 - 1 p.m.
Location: McCormack Hall, Ryan Lounge, 3rd Floor, Room 721

Have you ever wondered how it feels to flee your home in search of asylum? Have you ever wondered how the asylum process works? Please join Cambridge Support for Syrian Refugees (CSSR), alongside with the McCormack Graduate School Policy and Global Studies, Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security and Global Governance, and other nonprofits at UMass Boston for our first Refugee Welcome Fair.

As new residents to Boston, we would like to provide an opportunity for refugees to meet with students, faculty, staff, and the public in an open and safe space. The Refugee Welcome Fair is a space for education, support, and networking.

Local businesses are invited to purchase booth space to sell and advertise their products in an effort to support local service providers focused on assuring refugees' transition into our community. All booth sales, raffle sales, and donations will go to the Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights and NuDay Syria in support of helping refugees locally in Boston and abroad in Syria.

Light refreshments will be offered as faculty and staff at UMass presents cutting-edge research on refugee and migration issues. In addition, refugees will have the opportunity to educate the Boston community on the difficulties they’ve encountered in the asylum process. Lastly, refugees will be provided assistance with resume building, college applications, and have a meet and greet with local service providers. Please join us from 1:00 - 5:00 PM for this wonderful event!
