China, the world’s most populous nation, is going through what is perhaps the greatest social transformation in human history. China’s explosive growth and expanding global influence and the United States’ recent “pivot” toward Asia make dialogue and com- munication between the people of the two nations more important than ever.  In hopes of initiating a discussion that will bring about greater understanding of these two great cultures and a deeper friend- ship between the people of each nation, John Hess (Senior Lecturer, English/American Studies), who was recently in Beijing, would like to discuss his impressions of that amazing city and invite you to share your thoughts with the university community.
