Theatre Arts Auditions—Bat Boy: The Musical and New Voices

The UMass Boston Performing Arts Department announces and open call audition for the Theatre Arts Fall productions. Auditions for Bat Boy: The Musical and New Voices, New Stories will be held September 14 and 15 in the University Hall Theatre.

Bat Boy: The Musical, story and book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, directed by Carrie Ann Quinn, is based on a story in The Weekly World News. Bat Boy is a musical comedy/horror show about a half boy/half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. Performances will be December 1-3, and 7-9, the premiere production in the new University Hall Theatre.

New Voices, New Stories is a showcase of short plays by UMass Boston playwrights, with the chosen lineup announced HERE. Two evenings of staged readings will be held October 6 and 6 in the University Hall Actors Studio.

Auditions are open to all UMass Boston Students.

Wednesday, September 14 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Thursday, September 15 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Callbacks on September 16 at 6:00 pm.

Please prepare

1) A one minute contemporary dramatic monologue

2) 32 bars of a pop song or rock musical theatre song or a song from Bat Boy: The Musical. Piano accompanist will be provided. Please bring your sheet music taped together to the audition.

(If you are only interested in the staged readings, then just the monologue is needed.)

Rehearsals will begin in September for New Voices, New Stories.  Rehearsals for Bat Boy: The Musical begin October and Performances are December 1-3 and 7-9.
