Title IX/Sexual Respect

The University of Massachusetts Boston is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment free of intimidation, harassment, domestic abuse, and sexual misconduct, which includes relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. Such conduct is prohibited by federal law (Title IX) and by university policy and will not be tolerated—whether it takes place on or off campus. UMass Boston takes all allegations of sexual misconduct seriously and provides information, resources, and direction to members of the university community to prevent it and resolve all allegations.

While you are not required to file a report, you are encouraged to speak with university officials in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or the Office of the Dean of Students as soon as possible following an incident. This enables the university to promptly provide you support, to take appropriate action to stop the offensive behavior, to prevent a recurrence or retaliation, and to keep the campus community safe. Faculty, staff, and student employees who receive complaints of sexual misconduct are obligated to report the complaints to their supervisor and/or the university’s Title IX Coordinator.
