Andrew Boelcskevy, in 30+ years of teaching German literature classes at UMass Boston, found Thomas Mann's fiction, especially several of his early stories, exceptionally rewarding. Participating in a recent, unusually fruitful, discussion of the many merits of the story in the German literature seminar at the Goethe Institute made him decide to propose offering his understanding of the story as a Brownbag presentation.
