The Survey and Statistical Methods Core (SSMC)

UMass Boston - Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center

About the SSMC

The Survey and Statistical Methods Core (SSMC) is a collaboration that integrates the capabilities of existing UMass Boston and DFCI core resources to support research and training in cancer disparities at both institutions. The primary aims of the core are to:

  • provide methodological consulting and operational support services to U54 projects
  • conduct training for students, research staff, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty in social and behavioral research methods through a seminar series and a research boot camp
  • incubate and catalyze new collaborative research on cancer disparities.

These activities are intended to promote continued expansion of collaborative cancer research at both institutions and to support the career development of junior faculty members as they become independent researchers.
