Talented and Gifted (TAG) Latino Program

at the University of Massachusetts Boston

Saturday Academy

Since 2005 TAG has offered three academies at UMass Boston: Saturday, winter, and spring.

During the Saturday academy, offered in fall and spring, BPS teachers offer various enrichment classes and youth development activities. The program runs for two semesters, with 11 sessions in each semester. Students take academic classes in the morning and participate in recreational activities in the afternoon. Approximately 80 students are served each year. Students who have participated in the Saturday Academy have improved their MCAS scores; MEPA scores, a test that measures their English language development; and their grades in their English, math, and science classes.

This year the fall semester for the academy will begin on September 26 and continue through December 11 and rund from 11am-3pm. An orientation will be held on the first day of the program, September 26, at 11am in the rear of Snowden Auditorium in Wheatley Hall at the UMass Boston campus.
