Carpooling and Other Options

We encourage students, faculty, and staff to take advantage of UMass Boston’s partnership with MassRIDES, the Executive Office of Transportation’s statewide travel options program. MassRIDES provides free transportation assistance that can save money, save time, and improve your commute through personalized travel planning. They can help you establish a vanpool or carpool arrangement or find the best transit route to the campus. Call MassRIDES at 1.888.4.COMMUTE between 7:30am and 5:30pm to speak with a program representative (in English or Spanish), or visit MassRIDES on the web.

The university provides two reserved spaces in the upper level of the Campus Center garage for MassRIDES participants.

While motorcycles can park in any parking space at full rate, there are also dedicated motorcycle spaces in both the Beacons Lot and University Lot B at half rate.

UMass Boston is located conveniently on the HarborWalk, a biking and walking trail that connects communities along the waterfront. Bike racks are available at many campus locations for people who choose this green mode of transportation.
