2009 Customer Service Award & CIO Award for Excellence

Vice Provost & CIO - Anne Agee; Provost Winston Langley & Andy Arcadipane

Here are a few things that the community had to say about Andy.

I first experienced Andy’s professionalism and helpfulness nearly 5 years ago when I first started at UMass. Since then he has been so helpful so many times to me and to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. This fall semester Andy has been an integral process of prepping the faculty and staff at college with IT resources. There was and still is a high volume of activity involved with this and Andy is extremely dependable, and all the while, doing his job with a sense of humor and a smile.

It’s always a pleasure working with Andy. He’s very professional and always pleasant and helpful to the clients.

We have many versions of computers and many people who use the same computers so there is often trouble. Becasue of pt confidentiality, Andy has to work around our ever changing schedule. He is always fast, pleasant, respectful and understanding of those of us who are not terribly computer savvy.

Andy always take the extra step to assure that he is communicating with his organization so that when he facilitates the changes within the CNHS he is able to collect data on successes so that it may be shared with the larger University audience. A perfect example was the recent upgrade of most computers on campus to internet explorer 8. Although some components of Blackboard are compatible with Internet explorer 8 there are multiple functions within the learning management system that are not supported by that browser. In an effort to decrease faculty frustration and decrease calls to the helpdesk he came and reconfigured all of the faculty computers to ensure success when they accessed their LMS. He also shared the information about incompatibility with his peers and supervisor and could then assess the effectiveness of reconfiguring the faculty computers before the semester started.

Other members of I.T. that were nominated were: Alan Girelli, Anthony Manibusan, Bob Caron, Bob Siebert, Christine Carpenito, David Wilson, Gary Chan, Hung Nguyen, Irene Yukhananov, Jamil Moosavifard, Jeff Wade, Jim Wyse, John Jessoe, Keith Pyle, Kim Miller, Laura Fay, Lisa Link, Peggy Tippit, Scott Devillafane, Tam Nguyen, the entire IT team & Theresa Nelson-Miller.
