The Hispanic Studies Department was renamed the Latin American and Iberian Studies Department in 2011.
The field of Latin American and Iberian studies explores the languages, literatures, and histories of Spain, Portugal, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the millions of people of Hispanic descent living in the United States.
To prepare students for a broad spectrum of careers, we provide opportunities for students to acquire proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese, major in Latin American and Iberian Studies, minor in Spanish Language or Latin American Studies, receive a certificate in Spanish-English Translation, or fulfill content area requirements for certification to teach Spanish in Massachusetts.
The center provides support for teachers, professionals, university students and all those interested in the knowledge and promotion of the Spanish language and cultures. Read More
