Student Refunds

- We strongly recommend students take this opportunity to sign up for direct deposit so that any future refunds will be automatically deposited into your bank account. Students who wish to enroll for direct deposit can log into the ‘Student Financial Center’ via WISER. A job aid to assist with the process can be found at "Direct Deposit for Refunds"
Refund of Excess Payments/Financial Aid
Excess is created when the total payments on an account are greater than the total bill. Excess payments will result in the issue of an excess check or Debit/Credit Card refund.
Instructional video: How to View Account Activity
Notification that an excess refund is available is made by an email sent to a student's UMass Boston email account. A student can forward his/her emails from the UMass Boston account to an alternate email address.
Student who have received an excess refund from their financial aid either by check or direct deposit and would like to cancel and/or reduce their loan, please follow the steps below:
- First use this link Disbursement of Aid for the guidance of procedures to cancel or reduce the loans.
- For checks - please mail back the excess check to the address below or make an online payment through Flywire payment portal.
- For direct deposit - please make an online payment through Flywire payment portal.

Please be advised that the Bursar’s Office will be temporarily changing the teller window hours for deposits and/or payments from Monday March 4th through Tuesday April 30th, 2024. The window will be open for service between 12PM and 4PM. If needed, you may use the Dropbox, which is located next to the teller’s window for depositing checks and, as always, students may also visit the One Stop to drop off checks for Tuition payments.
