Biography
Cathleen Johnson is the Associate Director at the Center for Collaborative Leadership at the University of Massachusetts Boston. In her role, she’s dedicated to fostering inclusive leadership and driving meaningful partnerships that create lasting change.

Before joining the Center, Cathleen worked at MassHousing Finance Agency until 2013, when she made the leap to Mares Associates, a small defense consulting firm she co-founded with her husband.
With more than three decades of service on numerous nonprofit committees, Johnson has dedicated her career to driving positive change for veterans and underserved communities across Massachusetts.
Cathleen holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Bridgewater State University, a master’s in Public Administration from UMass Boston, and a graduate certificate in Gender, Leadership, and Public Policy from UMass Boston. Her commitment to lifelong learning and community impact continues to guide her every step of the way.
