Biography

Professor Malone is passionate about preparing nursing students for clinical practice through the use of simulation. Her clinical experience includes adult critical care and post anesthesia care. Prior to entering academia, she supported nurses entering practice through nurse residency.

Additional Information

She worked in hospital-based education departments teaching residency classes and other professional education offerings. During this time, she obtained a Masters of Nursing with a focus on Education and certifications in gerontological nursing and professional development.  

In the summer of 2022, she transitioned full time to simulation at Baylor University in Dallas Texas. During her time there she facilitated simulation and lab activities across the curriculum for both undergraduate and graduate level students. Melissa was the lead simulation educator for the foundational skills lab and implemented changes to better incorporate simulation best practices into all areas. In January of 2025, she obtained certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator.  

She joined the U Mass Boston Center for Clinical Education and Research in the summer of 2025.
