Cindy Bui is a full-time student in the Gerontology PhD program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in socio-cultural anthropology at University of California, San Diego. She focused on ethnic minority and low-income older adults in her undergraduate studies, with an emphasis on social issues in health care. After graduating, Cindy served as the Health Coordinator of the Sacramento Promise Zone and engaged in the cross-sector, collaborative initiative to improve health outcomes for residents of economically disadvantaged communities. Along with community partners, she developed the local Community Nurse Corps program, which increases access to health care in medically underserved communities. Her academic interests include health and well-being among ethnic minority and immigrant older adults, equitable policies and programs to support low-income and diverse older adults, and intergenerational relationships and support systems
