HELP: Helping Elders Living with Pain
We are a team of researchers in the Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts Boston and from other institutions in the Boston area, working together to conduct research on mind-body exercise to help older adults living with chronic pain who are at risk of falls.
We are looking for participants for this important research! Letters will be sent out to Seniors in Boston. If you receive a letter, please contact our team if you are interested in participating.
We will be recruiting seniors to join us for a 6-month Tai Chi or exercise program with a 6-month follow-up. The research team is very excited to be conducting this exercise clinical trial over the next four years (2026-2030). Ultimately, we hope to contribute new knowledge about ways to reduce chronic pain and improve mobility among older adults to help in achieving the best quality of life possible.
The Helping Elders Living with Pain (HELP) study is supported by a grant from the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health (NIH R01 AG088086). The study builds on our previous pilot studies of mind-body exercise as a therapeutic approach to helping older adults who live with chronic musculoskeletal pain and are at risk for falls.
