New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) Accreditation
The University of Massachusetts Boston is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.
Accreditation by the commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA)
UMass Boston is approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA). SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.

The Exercise and Health Sciences B.S. program is accredited by the Comission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon their commendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Exercise Science (CoAES).
The Counseling Psychology Program has been continuously accredited since 2015 by the American Psychological Association Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing/master's degree program in nursing/Doctor of Nursing Practice program and/post-graduate APRN certificate program at the University of Massachusetts Boston is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
UMass Boston's Computer Science BS program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, previously known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
The College of Management is Boston's only public AACSB-accredited business school, dedicated to educating the region’s next generation of business and community leaders.
