Education at UMass Boston is a “transformational life force” that is sustained by academic integrity. Academic integrity means being honest, trustworthy, responsible, respectful, and fair in all our academic work at the university. Academic integrity involves cooperation and communication among students, faculty, staff, and the systems that support the aim of educating students at UMass Boston. As part of being educated here, students learn, exercise, increase, and uphold academic integrity – within all classrooms, in the many spaces where academic work is carried out by all members of the UMass Boston community, and in our lived worlds beyond the university where the value of this education fulfills its role as a public good.

The International Center for Academic Integrity defines academic integrity as "a commitment to five fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility...these five values, plus the courage to act on them even in the face of adversity, are truly foundational to the academic endeavors of teaching, learning, and research...When the fundamental values are embraced, utilized, and put into practice they become touchstones for scholarly communities of integrity."

Education at UMass Boston is sustained by academic integrity. Academic integrity requires that all members of the campus community are honest, trustworthy, responsible, respectful, and fair in academic work at the university. As part of being educated here, students learn, exercise, increase, and uphold academic integrity. Academic integrity is essential within all classrooms, in the many spaces where academic work is carried out by all members of the UMass Boston community, and in our local and global communities where the value of this education fulfills its role as a public good. Students are expected to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, including policies about academic integrity, delineated in the University of Massachusetts Boston Graduate Studies Bulletin, Undergraduate Catalog, and relevant program student handbooks.

For Students: Learning About Academic Integrity
Learning about and practicing academic integrity inside and outside of the classroom are some of the ways in which students are educated in ethics at UMass Boston. For Faculty: Educating About Academic Integrity
Faculty recognize that academic integrity is both upheld and learned by students through educational experiences. In cases of academic integrity errors that incur sanctions, faculty reporting occurs via Maxient form provided in the link (see "Options for addressing academic integrity errors").
