Course Bundles- College of Liberal Arts

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts!

We are happy you are here and excited to help you register for your first semester courses.

If you are interested in staying on track to complete your degree in four years, you need to take 15 credits (generally 5 classes) each semester to meet that goal.

To help you start on track and build your fall schedule, we are offering Course Bundles. Course bundles give you the opportunity to enroll in a First Year Seminar or Critical Reading and Writing course, a General Education introductory level CLA course, and an ENGL 101 course. By choosing a bundle, you will be pre registered for the three courses in the bundle you choose and then you'll work with an academic advisor to build your fall schedule.

Benefits of a bundle

  • Start on track with classes for first year students in the College of Liberal Arts
  • Explore a subject area while satisfying graduation requirements
  • Take 3 of your 5 classes in a cohort model- you'll see the same students in those classes to give you a better opportunity to meet other first year students and build a community!

This two course bundle consists of a First Year Seminar and English 101. This bundle emphasizes the study of Boston culture, history, and literature, featuring exciting field trips that allow students to explore Boston.  We focus on generating analytical and creative approaches to studying--and experiencing--urban spaces, using (awesome!) Boston as our laboratory.

What is the difference between CLA First! and Course Bundles?

CLA First! is a learning community that provides additional programming and peer mentors Read more about What is the difference between CLA First! and Course Bundles?  »

I'm expecting AP or Dual Enrollment credit, how will this impact my course bundle?

You can choose a course bundle and work with your advisor to make sure your anticipated incoming credits, don't conflict with the course bundle classes

What if I'm expecting to bring in ENGL 101 credit?

Work with your advisor to ensure you receive any credits you anticipate.

I'm in Honors, can I still do a course bundle

You will be taking an HONORS 101 course to fulfill your first year seminar in your spring semester, so you will not need to select the Course Bundle option. However, if you like the idea of taking cohort classes, you can still do Honors and participate in CLA First!

What if I change my mind?

You can work with your advisor to select a different bundle, choose CLA First!, or adjust your schedule

I'm a declared major, do I have to choose the bundle associated with my major?

Not at all! While you are welcome to take a bundle related to your major, we also encourage you to explore other options that sound interesting!

I am interested in Experiencing Boston but also want to do CLA First! Is that possible?

Actually, all students in CLA First! take Experiencing Boston!
