Complement Your Major With a Geospatial Analysis & Modeling Minor.

Spatial thinking and the ability to analyze and visualize data through space and time are essential skills in every employment sector. In this minor, you'll gain technical skills in the geospatial fields of remote sensing and geography as well as modeling skills in mathematics and economics. Together, these skills position you to lead in careers where experience in visualization, data modeling, and geospatial analysis is in high demand such as in health care, engineering, biology, computer science, history, anthropology, archaeology, and more.

If you enjoy creating images with data, if you like programming, computers, image processing, and big data, or if you want to advance quickly in your profession, this minor is for you. Students majoring in Environmental Science can pursue this minor.

Completion Requirements

Complete 18 credits from six courses, including one environmental science course, two geospatial analysis core courses, two geospatial applications and modeling electives, and a capstone.

GPA: A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for all minor courses.
Pass/fail: No courses taken pass/fail may be applied toward the minor
Residency: At least three courses including the two geospatial application and modeling electives and the capstone must be completed at UMass Boston.
