Dr. Zelda (Zee) Gamson, professor emerita, joined the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1988, and served as the founding Director of the New England Resource Center for Higher Education, co-founder of the Higher Education doctoral program, and as a faculty member before retiring in 1999. Prior to coming to the University of Massachusetts Boston, Dr. Gamson spent more than twenty years at the University of Michigan, where she held appointments at the Institute for Social Research, the Center for the Study of Higher Education, and the Residential College.

From 2005-2022, John Saltmarsh was Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Leadership in Education in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. From 2005-2016 he served as the Director of the New England Resource Center for Higher Education (NERCHE). From 1998-2005 he was the director of the national program on Integrating Service with Academic Study at Campus Compact. John also held an appointment as a Distinguished Engaged Scholar at the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University, was also a Visiting Scholar with College Unbound in Providence, Rhode Island, and from 2022-2024 he served as a Fellow with the Carnegie Foundation.

Dr. Wenfan Yan is Professor Emeritus of Educational Leadership at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB), where he joined the faculty in 2008 as a tenured full professor. He earned his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Yan taught graduate courses in research methods, instrument design, program evaluation, and dissertation seminars. A dedicated mentor, he chaired 21 doctoral dissertations and served as a reader for more than 20 others. His research integrates quantitative and qualitative methodologies to examine state, national, and international policy issues related to equity, access, and assessment in P-16 education, with a recent focus on Chinese education reform. His work on cross-cultural leadership strategies for social justice secured more than $1.2 million in grant funding.
