Information for New Students
Welcome, New Students and Families!
We are so excited to welcome you to UMass Boston and to University Health Services (UHS) - your on-campus resource for health and wellbeing.
As you begin your journey here, there are a few important steps to take to ensure you're ready and compliant with university health requirements.
Your New Student Health To-Do List:
1. Log in to the My Health Beacon Portal
Your personal health portal is where you'll:
- Schedule and cancel appointments
- Message providers securely
- Upload immunization records
- View your immunization compliance status
- Upload insurance information
- Update health history
2. Review and Update Your Information
On the My Health Beacon Portal, check your profile to ensure all your contact details and medical history are accurate.
- Tip: Add your cell number and carrier to receive text reminders for appointments and messages.
3. Submit Immunization Records and TB Risk Assessment
Most students are required to submit proof of certain immunizations, and ALL students must submit the Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Screening Form.
A registration hold labeled "IMM" will be placed if documentation isn't submitted:
- October (Fall admits)
- March (Spring admits)

6. Complete Your Bystander Intervention Training
Deadline for Spring 2025 Admits: March 1, 2025.
Deadline for Fall 2025 Admits: TBA.
- *Please Note: This module will be made available for incoming Fall 2025 students in August/September.
UMass Boston provides mandatory training to equip students with skills to intervene in situations of harassment or sexual violence. All students must complete this training in their first semester regardless of their enrollment status or program type.
You will receive an email from Vector Solutions with a link to the training, which takes about 40 minutes to complete. Failure to complete this module by the deadline will result in a "WEH" registration hold being placed, blocking course registration.
Once the module is completed, it can take up to 48 hours for the hold to be removed.
