Empower Student Learning with Technology

Earning UMass Boston's online K-12 Instructional Technology Certificate develops your skills to optimize teaching practices and positively impact student learning outcomes. Transform your classroom with innovative strategies and enhance your professional growth.

Specialize in Computer Technology in Education, Instructional Technology / e-Learning, and Assistive Technology. The program culminates with a practicum course in which K-12 teachers design and implement a school or district project that integrates key learning outcomes, allowing you to apply your newly acquired knowledge and skills in a real-world setting.

Once you complete the certificate, you can pursue a role as an instructional coach, technology specialist, or IT integrator within your school district. Areas of focus include designing and delivering professional development workshops, implementing new curriculum and instructional materials, or using new technology to enhance learning. With a K-12 Instructional Certificate from UMass Boston, you’ll be equipped to collaborate with colleagues and enhance any content area by effectively integrating technology into your teaching.

How to Apply

Applicants must meet general graduate admission requirements in addition to the following program-specific requirements:

All prospective students complete an initial phone intake interview
K-12 teachers must hold an initial license in another content area before they start the K-12 Instructional Technology certificate program

Deadlines & Cost

Deadlines: June 15 for fall (Note: K-12 teachers will start with one course in the summer as a non-matriculated student), December 1 for spring

Application Fee: The nonrefundable application fee is $75. UMass Boston alumni and current students that plan to complete degree requirements prior to graduate enrollment can submit the application without paying the application fee.
