Advancing Diverse Leadership for a Better World for All

The Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy (CWPPP) at UMass Boston promotes greater diversity in public leadership to advance more equitable and just public policies. Based in the McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, CWPPP offers a graduate certificate in Gender, Leadership & Public Policy that is also a track in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, provides leadership training for college students, conducts cutting-edge intersectional policy research, and hosts interactive public events.

Announcements

Watch a short video about CWPPP's recent convening, In This Moment: Women of Color Driving Change for Equity from the Boston Neighborhood News Network.

Read the new CWPPP and Boston Women's Fund joint research report, Carrying the Weight, Leading the Change, a data-driven picture of how women and gender-expansive leaders of color are faring within Greater Boston’s grassroots landscape, as it actually is.

Read the report released by the UMass Boston Early Education Cost and Usage Simulator (CUSP) Project team that demonstrates that the Commonwealth’s current licensed capacity for early education and child care is uneven with pockets of severe and extreme shortfalls in infant and toddler capacity in centers and family child care settings.  Led by the Early Education Leaders Institute and Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy, the UMass Boston CUSP Project developed this statistical model to produce estimates of key impacts resulting from expanding access to affordable, quality child care and early education.

Come and hear the CWPPP's Distinguished Public Service Fellows share their leadership journeys and learnings along the way. The next talk will be given by Nina Liang , City Councilor at Large, City of Quincy , Associate Director of Government Relations, Wentworth Institute of Technology  on Wednesday, April 15 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm ET.  Register here to receive the zoom link.
