The Betty Taymor Fund for the Education of Women in Politics & Government

Betty Taymor

The Betty Taymor Fund for the Education of Women in Politics & Government provides financial support in the form of scholarships and stipends to women enrolled in the Center's Graduate Certificate Program in Gender, Leadership, and Public Policy. Since 1992, the Fund has provided over $100,000 in scholarships to more than 100 women who have demonstrated academic excellence, a commitment to public service, and financial need. The Fund provides stipends and scholarships each academic year to women in the Program who have demonstrated academic excellence, a commitment to public service, and financial need.

The goal of the Betty Taymor Fund is to increase access to the Program for qualified women, regardless of ability to pay. Some women who enter the Program work full-time to support themselves and their families.  For some, completing the 200-hour internship component of the Program means losing income. Becoming a "Betty Taymor Scholar" often makes the difference in being able to attend and complete the Program. The amount of each stipend/scholarship ranges from $250 to $1,250.
