Course Reuse Policy

There are limits on how many times a course can count across programs.
Below outlines the course reuse policies in place.

Rules for courses fulfilling two or more majors or minors within the same college:

College of Liberal Arts Reuse Rules

  • Second Major:  A maximum of two courses may fulfill both majors
  • Minor: A maximum of one course may fulfill the major and the minor

College of Science & Mathematics Reuse Rules

  • Second major:  A maximum of two courses at the 300 or 400 level may fulfill both majors.
  • Minor: A maximum of one course at the 300 or 400 level may fulfill the major and minor.

College of Management Reuse Rules

  • Second concentration: A maximum of two courses may fulfill both concentrations.

Rules for courses fulfilling majors and minors from different colleges:

Reuse Rule: Second major is from a college different from the first major

  • A maximum of two courses at the 300 level or above may fulfill both majors.

Reuse Rule: When a minor is from a college different from the major.

  • A maximum of one course at the 300 level or above may fulfill the major and the minor.

Note: Individual departments may further limit the number of courses that may be used in multiple programs. Individual colleges may limit which majors can be declared.
