Meet with an Academic Coach

About Academic Coaching

Academic coaching at the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is an opportunity for you as UMass Boston students to develop your strengths as you navigate your college journey. We believe that you are resilient students capable of reaching your academic goals. Your coach is a dedicated staff member who sees your potential and has the resources and experience to help you realize it. We are here to motivate, guide, and work with you to find solutions that work for you.

All UMass Boston students can work directly with an academic coach in person, via Zoom, via email, or over the phone. Coaches will help students navigate the many resources available on campus.

Coaching is separate from formal advising and tutoring, but works alongside these helpful other services. For this reason, coaches may recommend other services to build different layers of support for you outside of our meetings. So that we can provide you with the best possible help, we invite you to bring all areas of support you’re looking for to our meetings so we can bring the right resources.

Your CAE coach will set up recurring meetings to follow up on progress towards your goals. Life happens–if you are unable to keep a coaching session, please let your coach know ahead of time.
