UMass Boston

Endowed Faculty Career Development Award

In 1999, a group of UMass Boston retired faculty formulated general goals for an endowed fund in support of faculty development that became known as the Endowed Faculty Career Development Fund. The group decided that grants from the fund would support and encourage creative activity, scholarly research, and professional development for pre-tenured faculty members. The endowed fund is supported by yearly gifts from retired faculty members.

An awards committee, comprising three to five UMass Boston retired faculty members, is selected annually to review proposals and choose an award recipient. The award is presented at an annual UMass Boston Retired Faculty event held in October. All tenure-track faculty members who are in the probationary (pre-tenured) period are eligible to apply for the award.

See the Retired Faculty Leadership Council for more information and to see previous award winners.

Applications are now being accepted. Deadline is September 15, 2023. Apply online
