American Studies Summer Institute

The  American Studies Summer Institute an intensive two-week program co-sponsored by the University of Massachusetts Boston American Studies Department and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, offers educators and graduate students the opportunity to explore in depth a rich topic with contemporary resonance drawn from American social, cultural and political history. The program is organized around thought-provoking lectures and discussions led by distinguished scholars and guests.  Participants include graduate students in American Studies, political science, history, and related disciplines as well as secondary school teachers from the greater Boston area.

Consortium for Graduate Studies in Gender, Culture, Women &. Sexuality

UMass Boston graduate students may cross-register for seminars offered by the Consortium for Graduate Studies in Gender, Culture, Women & Sexuality as part of the standard tuition they pay at UMass Boston. Hosted by MIT, GCWS brings together feminist scholars and teachers from nine Boston area institutions, including UMass Boston, for the purpose of advancing interdisciplinary, intersectional feminist scholarship and teaching in the areas of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. Enrollment is by application only.
