Communication Department

The study of how humans generate meaning through the exchange of information is, at its core, communication. The Communication Department began offering both the major and minor in Communication in fall 2013. Since that time we have grown to include more than 300 majors and 50 minors.

The communication major is an 12-course program that focuses on the social and scientific study of human communication. The curriculum offers students the chance to explore coursework in interpersonal, mediated, political and health communication, among others. Our courses emphasize communication across a variety of channels diverse cultures.

 Announcements

  • Communication students may take any electives in the major as P/F. Core courses (Comm100, Comm105, Comm200, Comm230, Comm351) and the capstone (Comm 480) must be taken for a grade.
